Match: Yeovil v Aston Villa 14 August 2018

Thank you very much for arranging the disabled car space for me last night. I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the accompanying leaflet (YTFC DSA Information Flyer) and if it’s ok with you I am going to show it to our fairly newly formed DSA, as I don’t believe that anything like that is produced by Aston Villa.

 

There was a lovely lady who met us by the entrance and showed us where to park. I’m afraid I didn’t get her name but she had DSA on the back of her top. She was most informative and a credit to the club.

Thank you to all the staff at Yeovil Town Football Club who could have not been more helpful today if they tried. They maybe only in League Two with their football but they are in the Premiership with their Customer Service. Having to walk with a three wheeled walker is a pain at the best of times but all of your staff on the phone & at the ground made Grant & myself so welcome & looked after us as if we were Royalty. Thank you to everyone especially Sharon, Bruce, Karen & Kevin & everyone else we came in contact with. xxx

Would like to add that although this was my 82nd Ground out of the current 92 it is actually my 119th overall and The Yeovil Town Staff provided the Best Customer Service I have received at ANY FOOTBALL GROUND. Well Done.

Match: Yeovil Town v York City 02 January 2016

 

Prior to match I phoned to reserve a car parking space.

 

Arriving at the ground we drove into the car park but it was the wrong one so we turned around and went further along to the Green gates car park, where we told the steward our name & he gave us a ticket for the £2 charge.

 

Another steward   directed us to a parking space.   A lady approached us, who was the DLA and was asked if we had a car park badge, we showed her our ticket which she took off us and refunded our money & gave us a different ticket, she introduced herself as the DLA, sorry I can’t remember her name but she was really helpful.

Programs were on sale inside and outside the ground.

 

Entering the ground, we were shown to a wheelchair shelter pitchside. In front of our own fans, which was fully covered, pleased about that as it rained.   A steward came and said if there was anything we needed just had to ask & they had blankets available if we felt cold.

The refreshment bar was underneath the stand behind us and easily reachable.

 

Exiting the ground after the match, stewards were still on car park duty and held the other cars back so we were able to join the queue to get away.  This rarely happens at most grounds we have been to.

We are Reading F C Supporters who travelled up from Reading on Sat 31/8 to see our team take on Yeovil Town F C in the Championship, we just wanted to thank you and all your staff at the ground for making our visit very special as from the moment that I rang you to arrange special parking for myself and my wife as I am a Blue Badge holder to leaving the ground, no one could have been more helpful. 

So, we want you to know that you should all be very proud of your Club and the staff, and general way your Club is run, your Team and Club are a credit to the Championship, and we are sure you will be fine. Against Reading you were by far the better Team and definitely deserved nothing less than a draw. Considering the money, we have spent on players and their so-called quality, we agree on that showing as Gary your Manager said on the radio, that he would not swop any of his players for any of ours.

Match: Yeovil v Sheffield United 06 May 2013

 

A very friendly club nothing too much trouble. Roger the DLO very helpful.  Level access, pitchside in small cabin like shelters which hold 5 wheelchairs. The carers sit on row behind the cabin and do not get a very good view.  When we were there home fans sat behind but were well behaved not like at other clubs we have visited.  The only disabled toilet is at the other end of the stand in the home area and not easy to access as it is crowded at half time with people queuing for refreshments. NO alarm cord fitted in toilet. Quite good view but get stewards and police walking in front of disabled area.

Separate disabled car park and free if booked in advance.  Would definitely go again.

Match: Yeovil v MK Dons 29 January 2013

 

We visited Huish Park as away fans travelling in our club’s wheelchair accessible mini bus.  This was our second visit, but our first evening visit.   We noticed that at the lst roundabout from the nearby dual carriageway there was no sign for the ground (straight across) and was surprised that from the second roundabout, up the hill to the ground, the traffic was in a very slow (and often non-moving) queue – didn’t recall this from our Saturday visit.  There is a large supermarket and other outlets on this road.

Good parking at the ground and our bus was shown to a space very near to our entrance, which is on the left at the back of the stadium as you approach it.   We were greeted by Roger, the Disabled Liaison Steward, who was very friendly.   He knew all about the headset commentary that my visually impaired husband had requested and provided this for him with no problem.  My husband whilst appreciative of this service, did tell Roger at the end that it had been a very biased commentary and one that you would not have known was specifically to assist people with impaired sight.   Roger said that he would he give this feedback to those doing the commentary.

Provision for away wheelchair fans is in little “bus shelter” like constructions at pitch level in front of the away fans.   As I heard from others that your view is limited in these and I had visions of my husband hitting his heading on them (the roof is low), we chose to sit outside them, if you are going to do this, you need good waterproofs!   

For me the biggest downside of Huish Park is locating the accessible toilet, not least because the stewards nearest us didn’t know where it was!   There is only one, which is at the opposite end of the stadium to the away end, at the back of the small crowded home supporter’s refreshment area, with the toilet door opening out straight onto where they everyone is trying to eat their hot dogs!  The cubicle is not over large, although the stewards were really helpful when I got my waterproof trapped in my wheels!

We would happily visit Huish Park again.
